Project objectives:
The aim of the project is to continue in the implementation of the existing U3A courses that will include appropriate specific requirements for senior education so as to further deepen and expand the knowledge of older people in the field of culture, especially music and fine arts, and to strengthen interest in musical and arts activities. The music and art section is focused on strengthening existing and acquiring new theoretical knowledge, as well as on acquiring new and improving existing practical skills such as playing a musical instrument, improving breathing coordination, maintaining lung capacity, strengthening the diaphragm, psychomotor coordination, basics of drawing and painting, art techniques, aesthetic and creative aspects of photography, technical parameters of the picture, compositional principles, perception of light, and composition. The course includes theoretical lectures as well as practical exercises. The course content is adequately tailored to the target group and its needs. It places great emphasis on the active involvement of participants and the subsequent use of new skills in daily life.
Project summary:
The starting point for the Art Performed by Pensioners II project is clearly the positive experience in the implementation of cultural projects, which have taken place several times in the past. Taking into account the feedback received from participants in the courses held in 2019, our goal is to implement existing courses in a way that is as relevant as possible to the specifics of senior education. The courses will be concluded by presenting the activities by the participants, which for them is a significant event. For graduates of the music course, it will be a performance at ceremonial occasions, in the case of art courses, graduates will exhibit their works. Music and art courses including theoretical lectures as well as practical exercises are an integral part of education at the University of the Third Age at Masaryk University. The content of the courses is adequately tailored to the target group and its needs. U3A places great emphasis on the active involvement of participants and the subsequent use of acquired knowledge and skills in daily life.
